ICA Indonesia Chapter collaborated with the Indonesia Public Relations Association (PERHUMAS) for the road to the World Public Relations Forum (WPRF) to be held in November 19-22, 2024.  The WPRF event was for the Global Communication Knowledge Conference on Strategic Communication held September 26, 2024, with speakers representing ICA, Prof. Timothy Coombs of Texas A&M U and Prof. Noshir Contractor of Northwestern U, alongside ICA Indonesia Chapter Chair Prof. Dorien Kartikawangi.

Other ICA Chapters from India (Prof Padma Rani), Kenya (Sister Prof. Agnes Lucy Lando), and Nigeria (Ekaete George) joined as well. The topic of discussion that Dr. Janette Maria Pinariya of LSPR moderated was to remind us that having a strategy in designing communication plans or campaigns will ensure effectiveness in delivering intended messages. The second collaboration was on how to publish in reputable international journals on October 9.  Moderated by Dr. Nia Sarinastiti – ICA Indonesia Chapter Committee – and Chief Editor for Journal InterAct, the session hosted editors from three reputable journals that will select and accept papers from the Global Communications Knowledge Conference.

The speakers were Prof. Fernando Paragas, U of the Philippines College of Mass Communication (UPCMC), and Editor-in-Chief of Plaridel Journal (Scopus Q4). Prof. Sung Kyum Cho, DGIST South Korea, Co-Editor and Publisher, Asian Journal for Public Opinion Research (AJPOR, Scopus Q2), and Associate Prof. Suwichit (Sean) Chaidaroon – U of Melbourne, Editor-in-Chief of Asia Pacific Public Relations Journal (APPRJ) who shared insights on how to publish with these reputable journals. One consistent message from all the editors was that we must consider ethical values, even in using artificial intelligence, for our responsibility as a scholar in writing for a journal.
