As digital innovation accelerates across Southeast Asia, scholars, practitioners, and policy experts are set to converge in Kuala Lumpur for the 6th Jogjakarta Communication Conference (JCC), April 29–30, 2025, the hybrid-format event is themed “Advancing Regional Resilience: Digital Transformation Impact on Society in Southeast Asia.”
Hosted collaboratively by Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (UMY), Universitas Ahmad Dahlan (UAD), and Universiti Muhammadiyah Malaysia (UMAM), this year’s conference signals a growing urgency to critically examine how digital transformation is reshaping societies across the ASEAN region. The event is also co-organized with the International Communication Association (ICA) Indonesia Chapter and supported by ASIKOPTI, an Indonesian academic communication association.
The two-day conference will feature keynote addresses and panel discussions from leading communication scholars and digital transformation specialists. Prof. Dr. Dorien Kartikawangi, M.Si., from Universitas Katolik Indonesia Atma Jaya and the ICA Indonesia Chapter, who is known for her work on communication strategies, identity, and digital transformation in multicultural contexts presented her latest research.

Other plennary speakers are: Dr. Saidul Amin, M.A., from Universiti Muhammadiyah Malaysia, known for his contributions to Islamic communication and digital public discourse. Prof. Ju Zou, Ph.D., from Nanjing Normal University, China, who brings insights into East Asia’s digital education and policy innovation landscape. Pavel Slutsky, Ph.D., from Chulalongkorn University, Thailand, a researcher specializing in global media and digital citizenship.
Together, these speakers explored how digital tools and platforms are not only transforming communication systems but also fostering or threatening social cohesion, education, governance, and health infrastructures in Southeast Asia.
